This painting is a portrait of my grandson, Chance Carlson on the gentle Nokota stallion ThunderHawk.  
On Easter, 2006, Shelly, Frank Kuntz and Seth Ziegler stopped in to visit us on their way to
Pennsylvania to bring a few Nokotas to their new home. Seth brought out ThunderHawk
to walk around a bit, and then wanted to have Chance take a short ride around the yard.
This was a magical moment that needed to be remembered in a painting. And to think a real Nokota
snacked on some grass from my yard!

while I took several pictures of him on that warm August afternoon.

Teddy is a ranch-type Nokota Wild Horse that is owned by Susan Pizzini of Pennsylvania.
He was captured from the Theodore Roosevelt National Park. His remarkable journey from roundup 
and killpen to the kinder side of life on a farm in Pennsylvania is a testiment to the great acts of
humankind.
He shares his home with other Nokotas, Orion and Leo.
